Editors Carolyne Wright and Eugenia Toledo invite women poets of all nationalities, backgrounds and job descriptions to submit up to 5 poems for an anthology, Raising Lilly Ledbetter: Women Poets Occupy the Workspace.
This anthology invites poems of women who have occupied spaces in the work force, and have contended with pay and promotion inequity, workplace harassment and intimidation, and all matters relevant to women in an increasingly globalized workplace, including the joy and satisfaction of work well done. Such issues may include instances of women’s employment advantages over males and other non-minorities—any preferential treatment of women in hiring and promotion, for example. How can women tell their workplace stories in poetry, and be agents of change, locally and globally, in these difficult economic times? Poems in English and in translation from any other language are welcome.

The Kundiman Poetry Prize is dedicated to publishing exceptional work by Asian American poets.
Winner received $1,000, book publication and a New York City feature reading.

CSU Poetry Center First Book and Open Book Competition
$1,000 and publication in the Cleveland State University Poetry Series is offered for the best full-length volumes of original poetry in English submitted between November 1, 2012 and March 13, 2013.
The First Book Prize is given to an author who has not previously published a book of poetry.

Gulf Coast Call for Submissions
Gulf Coast's 2013 Gulf Coast Prizes in Fiction, Nonfiction/Lyric Essay, and Poetry
This year's judges are Stanley Plumly (Poetry), Maggie Shipstead (Fiction), and Darin Strauss (Nonfiction/Lyric Essay)!
The contest awards $1,500 and publication to the winner in each genre, as well as $250 to two honorable mentions in each genre. The winners will appear in Gulf Coast 26.1, due out in Fall 2013, and all entries will be considered for paid publication on our website as Online Exclusives. All three of last year's winners were from creative writing programs!

Montreal International Poetry Prize
Get your poems ready! The not-for-profit Montreal International Poetry Prize is offering $20,000 for one original, unpublished poem of no longer than 40 lines written in any English dialect. "Love on the Road 2013" will be an anthology of stories about making connections, from heartfelt ones ending in weddings, to less high-minded ones ending in beds (or wherever). Half the stories will be about travelers meeting people far from home, and the other half about people meeting travelers passing through.
Writers can submit their 5,000-word stories to us any time before March 31, 2013 (there's a $10 reading fee). We will choose the best 12 stories for publication and send them to our panel of judges, which includes writers and literary agents. They will pick the stories that will win the cash prizes of $200, $100 and $50.

Indy Zoeller from Orcas Island and Nancy Bingham of Lopez Island are among the writers and artists featured in SHARK REEF Literary Magazine’s Winter 2013 edition, online now at sharkreef.org. Founded in 2001 as a venue for Lopez Island writers, SHARK REEF is now in its second decade and accepting work from artists wherever the Internet reaches. Submissions to the current issue came from the U.S., Canada, European and Central American countries and Asia.
Torrey House Press is entering its third year with seven titles out, three more ready for the upcoming 2013 Spring/Summer season, four in the pipeline for the 2013 Fall/Winter season and two contracts already signed for 2014 Spring/Summer.
Three of our forthcoming titles are nonfiction—the rest are novels or short stories. While we continue to have an affinity toward literary fiction in our niche, we want to get more topical nonfiction out in order to stay afloat. Literary fiction is a giant genre in which it is difficult to stand out. Topical, environmental nonfiction has a smaller, more focused market—readers are easier to identify and reach.
Take, for example, The Straw Bale House, published by our admired competitor, Chelsea Green Publishing Company. If you search online for “straw bale house,” their book is going to show up prominently. It is hard to do the same for a fiction title. Unless you know the author or the title or both, you will be long in the search before one of our fiction titles shows up. Chelsea Green has sold over 100,000 copies of The Straw Bale House, a lovely number.
The environmental movement currently needs a boost and so do Torrey House Press sales. We are calling for lively, controversial, leading edge manuscripts on topics like:
Afterimage is pleased to announce that the Inklight project is currently seeking new submissions! Inklight is a meeting place for words and images. We invite photographers to submit their work and writers to respond creatively.

DFW Writers’ Workshop 2013 Conference Slated for May 4-5 in Hurst, Texas
Editors, agents, and best-selling authors draw hundreds of attendees.
The Dallas Fort-Worth Writers’ Workshop will host its sixth annual DFW Writers’ Conference on May 4-5 at the Hurst Convention Center. Over 18 agents and editors will be in attendance and a free pitch session is included in the price of admission. (Extra pitches are available for a low fee.)
This year, the conference will feature three prominent authors as its keynote speakers:

Both emerging and established writers are encouraged to apply.
